Overview
The Yotpo Reviews integration lets you collect product reviews through Brij experiences and send those reviews directly to Yotpo. This creates a seamless, mobile-friendly review capture flow at the moment of product registration or within a Brij review module—boosting review volume and quality without extra emails or manual uploads.
This guide covers both how to connect Yotpo to Brij and how to configure your review module and experience so they are ready for customers.
Benefits
- Higher review conversion: Prompt customers to review right after they register or interact with your product experience, when they are already focused on you and not being interrupted.
- Cleaner data flow: Reviews (including rating, title, body, name, and email) are sent to Yotpo automatically—no CSV uploads or duplicate entry.
- Low-lift setup: One-time configuration with a Brij automation; no engineering work required.
- Consistent UX: Collect reviews inside the same Brij experience your customer's already use to register, instead of relying only on follow-up emails.
Setup & Usage
Prerequisites
- A Brij account with access to the Yotpo Reviews Automation and Review Module.
- A Yotpo Reviews account. You will need your App Key and Secret Key from Yotpo — see Step 1 below for how to locate them.
- A Brij Experience with a Product/SKU/Style # field matching the product ID used in Yotpo.
Step 1: Get your Yotpo API credentials
You will need two API keys from your Yotpo account to complete this connection. No Yotpo login is required during the Brij setup—only the keys.
- Go to https://settings.yotpo.com/#/general_settings.
- Scroll to the API Credentials section.
- Copy your App Key — this is visible to all account users.
- Click Get secret key to reveal your Secret Key.
Note: Only the Yotpo account owner can see the Secret Key. Yotpo will ask the account owner to verify their identity via email before displaying it. If you are not the account owner, you will need to ask them to retrieve this key for you.
Step 2: Connect Yotpo to Brij
- In Brij, go to Automations.
- Click New Automation.
- Name the automation something recognizable, such as Yotpo Reviews.
- Select the Yotpo Reviews automation icon.
- In the setup window, click Install.
- Click Continue.
- In the credentials fields that appear, enter your App Key and Secret Key from Yotpo.
- Click Finish, then click Done
- Click Save & Next to move through the Brij setup wizard. See below for recommended setup.
Setup recommendations
During setup:
- Leave authentication as-is once Yotpo is connected
- Set Filters to All Experiences if you want all eligible experiences to send reviews
- The trigger should send the review submission event to Yotpo
- On the configuration step, you can optionally enable failure notifications
- Notify on every failure, or
- Notify only when failures reach the pause threshold
Then click Save or Activate to finish setup.
Step 3: Create a review module for Yotpo
If you do not already have a review module built for Yotpo, create a new one.
- Go to Modules
- Select Reviews
- Create a new review module
- Give it a name, such as Yotpo Review Module
- Set the call-to-action button text, such as Leave a Review
Customize the start and end screens
You can customize the content shown before and after the review form:
- Start screen: Add helpful or encouraging content, such as product imagery or a short message inviting the customer to leave a review
- End screen: Add a thank-you message, images, video, or buttons to direct the customer to another destination after they submit their review
This is a good place to tailor the experience to your brand without affecting the review data Yotpo needs.
Important: Do not edit the review questions
Leave the review questions in their default configuration.
Yotpo relies on the default review fields to receive the submission correctly. Editing these questions can prevent reviews from being processed as expected.
Keep these points in mind:
- Do not change the default review questions
- Do not reorder the questions
- Do not add custom fields
- The image/video upload field is optional by default
- The remaining core review fields should stay required so the review can send successfully to Yotpo
After confirming the module is set up correctly, save it.
Step 4: Add the review module to an experience
Once the module is ready, add it to the experience where customers will leave reviews.
- Go to Experiences
- Open the experience you want to use
- In the experience editor, go to the Modules area
- Drag in the Review module (the module with the thumbs up / stars icon)
- Select the review module you created
- Turn on Registration Required
- This is important because Yotpo requires customer email when receiving the review.
- Save the experience
- Place the module in the desired module order
Recommended setup
Build the review module first, before making it live in an experience. This makes it easier for your team to review the start and end screens before the experience goes live.
Step 5: Make sure the product ID matches in Yotpo
This is one of the most important parts of the setup.
For a review to attach to the correct product in Yotpo, the product identifier in Brij must match the product identifier Yotpo expects.
In the Brij experience:
- Open the experience
- Go to Details
- Locate the "Product, Style or SKU Number" field
- Make sure this value matches the product ID used in Yotpo (usually the Shopify product ID)
If the numbers do not match, the review may send to Yotpo but will not attach to the correct product, and create a duplicate product, which means it will not appear on your product detail page.
Common setup
In many cases, Yotpo uses the Shopify product ID.
If your Brij experience was created from a Shopify product, that ID may already be entered in Brij. You can often verify it by hovering over the linked Shopify product used to build the experience.
Always confirm that the ID in Brij matches the ID in Yotpo before going live.
Step 6: Test the full review flow
Before launching, test the experience as a customer would.
- Open the live or preview experience
- Complete registration with an email address
- Enter the review
- Submit the form
- Check Yotpo to confirm the review was received and attached to the correct product
When testing, verify:
- The review submission completes successfully
- The review appears in Yotpo
- The correct product is associated with the review
- The product ID in Brij matches the product ID in Yotpo
- Once approved, the review shows up on the PDP for that product
- once confirmed to be working, you can delete the review in Yotpo
Some submissions may take a little time to appear in Yotpo, so allow for a short delay.
When clicking to see More Details, you'll see the Source set to "vendor". These reviews can be found by filtering the Source field to "API - Trusted Vendor".
Tips for a successful setup
- Create a dedicated review module for Yotpo rather than modifying an older review flow
- Keep the review questions exactly as provided in the default review module
- Require registration so Yotpo receives the customer email
- Confirm the Brij Style Number / SKU matches the Yotpo product ID
- Review the start and end screens separately before adding the module to a live experience
- Test with a real product-linked experience before launch
FAQs & Troubleshooting
The integration shows as “Inactive.”
- Confirm you completed the automation setup and clicked Save and Activate.
- Click the three dots on the automation and click Activate.
- Ensure Yotpo Reviews is enabled on your account (by a Brij Admin).
I can't see the Secret Key in Yotpo.
- Only the Yotpo account owner can reveal the Secret Key. Yotpo sends an email verification to the account owner before displaying it.
- If you are not the account owner, ask them to retrieve the Secret Key and share it with you securely.
I don’t see my test review in Yotpo.
- Confirm you used a supported path:
- Review module with registration required, or
- Review as part of registration.
- Open the Automation and ensure it’s Active and correctly filtered to the experience you tested.
- Allow time for sync. If still missing after a reasonable delay, recheck Alloy connection status and logs.
- If your Review module is set to approval required, that path isn’t supported—switch to a supported configuration.
My review is not showing up in Yotpo
Check the following:
- The Yotpo automation is connected and active
- The experience includes the correct review module
- Registration is required on the Review Module
- The customer completed the review fully, reaching the completion screen.
- The Style Number / SKU in Brij matches the product ID in Yotpo
The review reached Yotpo but is not attached to the product
This usually means the product identifier in Brij does not match the identifier in Yotpo. Verify the Style Number / SKU in the experience details.
Can I reorder the review questions or add custom fields?
- Not at this time. The flow is pre-configured and should not be changed.
Do I need developer support to set this up?
- No. Setup is point-and-click in Brij. You will only need the API keys described above.
Images aren’t showing on my Yotpo review.
- Media sync may be delayed while improvements are rolled out. Try again later and confirm your media settings in Yotpo.
Best Practices
- Place review capture immediately after registration to maximize completion rates.
- Keep your experience simple and avoid optional steps that add friction.
- Use clear microcopy that sets expectations (e.g., “Share your honest feedback in under 30 seconds”).
