Link Tracking lets you automatically add tracking parameters to every external link in a Brij experience. Once it is on, each link a shopper clicks carries the data your analytics tools need to attribute that traffic back to the experience, with no manual link tagging.
Use Cases
- Attribute experience traffic in analytics: See exactly how many visits, add-to-carts, and purchases on your site came from a Brij experience in Google Analytics or similar tools.
- Compare experiences side by side: Brij Parameters identify which experience drove each click, so you can compare performance across products, packaging, or placements.
- Keep campaign tagging consistent: Set UTMs once and every outbound link uses the same naming convention, instead of relying on each link being tagged by hand.
Where to Find It
Link Tracking is available for all experience types in two places:
- Account level: Settings > Integrations > Link Tracking. Applies to every experience in the brand.
- In a specific experience: Open Experience > Add Details > Advanced Settings > Customize Link Tracking Parameters. Applies to that one experience.
Note: Experience-level settings override brand-level settings. Use the brand level for your defaults and the experience level for exceptions.
Step 1: Turn On Link Tracking
Go to the specific experience settings or the brand settings you want to edit (see "Where to Find It" above).
Step 2: Choose Your Parameters
There are three parameter types. Each can be turned on independently, and you can use any combination.
Brij Parameters
Check Brij Parameters, then select the values you want to pass:
- brij_experience_id: The experience's slug ID (not the internal numeric ID).
- brij_experience_name: The internal name of the experience.
- brij_experience_title: The title of the experience.
These are filled in automatically, so there is nothing to type.
UTM Parameters
Check UTM Parameters and fill in the fields you want to use:
- utm_source: Where the traffic comes from (for example,
brij). - utm_medium: The channel (for example,
qrorpackaging). - utm_campaign: The campaign name (for example,
spring_launch). - utm_term and utm_content: Optional detail, such as a keyword or a specific placement.
- utm_id: A campaign ID, if your analytics setup uses one.
- utm_source_platform, utm_creative_format, utm_marketing_tactic: Optional Google Analytics fields for more detailed reporting.
Leave any field blank that you do not need. Blank fields are not added to the URL.
Custom Parameter String
Check Custom Parameter String to add any parameters not covered above, such as a partner or retailer code your team already tracks.
Step 3: Save and Test
- Save the experience or your brand settings.
- Open an experience and click an external link.
- Check the URL in your browser. You should see your parameters at the end, for example:
https://www.yourbrand.com/shop?utm_source=brij&utm_medium=qr&utm_campaign=spring_launch&brij_experience_id=abc123
Tips & Notes
- Existing query strings are kept. If a link already has parameters, Brij adds yours to the end without breaking it.
- Spaces become underscores. A value like
Spring Launchappears asSpring_Launch. Invalid URL characters are encoded automatically. - Use a consistent naming convention. Analytics tools treat
QRandqras different values, so pick one format and stick to it.
FAQ
Which links get tracking parameters?
All external (outbound) links clicked within the experience.
Do I have to set this up for every experience?
No. A Superadmin can set brand-wide defaults under Settings > Integrations. You only need experience-level settings when an experience should use different values.
Why is a parameter missing from my URL?
Blank fields are skipped. Make sure the field has a value, the parameter type is checked, and the experience has been saved.
Why doesn't brij_experience_id match the ID I see elsewhere?
This parameter uses the experience's slug ID, not its internal numeric ID.
Where do I see the results?
In your own analytics platform, such as Google Analytics. Filter or segment by the UTM or Brij parameter values you set.
